Families call the same chart a kannada jataka kundali or janma kundali in Kannada. Whatever the name, it is a free jathaka in Kannada with no locked sections.

Sidereal zodiac with Lahiri ayanamsa, mean Rahu and Ketu, whole-sign houses. Positions were checked against the Swiss Ephemeris for births from 1900 to today.
How to read the Kannada rashi chakra
The South Indian chart is a square of twelve boxes around an empty centre. The rule to remember: the rashis stay fixed; the planets move through them.

- ಮೀನ is always the top-left box. The signs run clockwise from there.
- Find the lagna. Its box is marked with a diagonal line and the letter ಲ. That is the 1st house.
- Count houses clockwise from the lagna box.
- Read the short letters. ರ (Ravi, Sun), ಚಂ (Chandra), ಕು (Kuja), ಬು (Budha), ಗು (Guru), ಶು (Shukra), ಶ (Shani), ರಾ (Rahu), ಕೇ (Ketu). Vakri grahas are marked.
- The centre holds the name and chart title.
The navamsha chart uses the same fixed grid, so the two can be compared box by box.

Kannada jataka matching for marriage
Matching is the question most families ask next. Our kundli matching page compares two charts with the North Indian 36-point Ashtakoot: all eight koots, Nadi, Bhakoot and Gana dosha with commonly cited cancellations, and a Kuja dosha comparison. It does not calculate the South Indian ten-point porutham, sometimes searched as jathaka porutham in Kannada. For that, take both printouts to a jyotishi your family trusts.
Regional names: Kuja dosha and Elarata shani
- ಕುಜ ದೋಷ (Kuja dosha) is the Kannada name for Manglik or Mangal dosh. The tool checks Mars from the lagna, the Moon and Venus, and lists commonly cited exceptions. Read more on the Manglik dosh page.
- ಏಳರಾಟ ಶನಿ (Elarata shani) is Sade Sati: Saturn transiting the 12th, 1st and 2nd rashi from the Moon. The tool shows only whether it is running now and which phase.
- Kaal Sarp is checked when all grahas sit on one side of the Rahu-Ketu axis.
The tool reports these. The detailed report lists only free, harmless traditional remedies such as a beej mantra, charity and seva; it never recommends paid pujas, gemstones or yantras. Please speak to a qualified astrologer before acting on any dosha.
