Settings used
Sidereal zodiac with Lahiri ayanamsa, mean Rahu and Ketu, whole-sign houses. Positions were checked against the Swiss Ephemeris for births from 1900 to today, so the chart should match a computer jathakam Telugu printout made elsewhere with the same settings.
How to read the Telugu rasi chakram
The South Indian chart is a square of twelve boxes around an empty centre. The one rule to remember: the rasis never move; the planets move through them.

- మీనం is always the top-left box. The signs run clockwise from there: మేషం, వృషభం, మిథునం along the top, then down the right side.
- Find the lagnam. Its box is marked with a diagonal line and the letter ల. That box is the 1st house.
- Count houses clockwise from the lagnam box.
- Read the short letters. ర (Ravi, Sun), చం (Moon), కు (Kuja, Mars), బు (Budha), గు (Guru), శు (Shukra), శ (Shani), రా (Rahu), కే (Ketu). Vakra grahas are marked.
- The middle is space for the name and the chart title.
