When two families exchange biodatas, the next request is often “send the birth details, we will get the kundlis matched”. This page does that step for you. It is a free tool for kundali matching for marriage that takes both birth details, works out both charts, and shows the full Ashtakoot table, the 36 gun score, with nothing hidden behind a payment. People who search for kundli milan in hindi or kundali milan online are looking for the same table; the screen here is in English, and the koot names appear in Hindi further down.
Please read the result the way the tradition itself does: as one input among many. Astrology is belief-based. The score compares two Moon positions; it cannot measure kindness, honesty or shared values.
What this tool shows
- Ashtakoot gun milan out of 36, with all 8 koots. For every koot you see the boy’s value, the girl’s value and the points, so the working is visible.
- Nadi, Bhakoot and Gana dosha, each marked present or absent, along with the commonly cited cancellation conditions that apply to this pair.
- Manglik match, checking Mars in both charts.
- Both full kundlis, the kundali milan chart pair an astrologer asks for: Lagna and Navamsa charts, planet tables and dasha, the same output as the kundli page.
It is free, needs no sign-up, and runs in your browser, so neither person’s birth details are uploaded.
What it does not do
No event predictions, no remedies for sale, no astrologer chat, no muhurta. For one person’s chart in depth, the detailed kundli report on the kundli page covers divisional charts, yogas, doshas, dasha and transits with traditional readings, free of charge. It does not match by name alone, and it does not cover numerology, Lal Kitab or KP.
How to match kundli online
- Enter the boy’s date, time and place of birth.
- Enter the girl’s date, time and place of birth.
- Read the table, then print it or save it as a PDF from the browser.
Some call this kundali milan by date of birth. More exactly it is kundli matching by date of birth and time, the only kind that reflects the actual sky. If a birth time is rough, enter your best estimate; the tool tells you when the Moon or lagna is close enough to a boundary that a few minutes could change the answer.
The 8 koots and their points
Ashtakoot means “eight groups”. Each koot compares one quality of the two Moon positions and carries a fixed number of points, rising from 1 to 8. Together they make 36. If you wanted gun milan in hindi, the third column gives each name in Devanagari.
| Koot | Points | Hindi | What is compared | How points are given |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Varna | 1 | वर्ण | Element group of the Moon sign | 1 when the boy’s varna is equal to or ranked above the girl’s |
| Vashya | 2 | वश्य | Sign type: Chatushpad, Manav, Jalchar, Vanchar, Keet | 2 for the same group, then 1.5, 1, 0.5 or 0 by table |
| Tara | 3 | तारा | Count between the two birth stars, both ways | 1.5 for each favourable direction |
| Yoni | 4 | योनि | Animal symbol of each nakshatra | 4 for the same animal, 0 for traditional enemy pairs |
| Graha Maitri | 5 | ग्रह मैत्री | Friendship between the two Moon-sign lords | 5 for friends or the same lord, down to 0 for mutual enemies |
| Gana | 6 | गण | Deva, Manushya or Rakshasa nakshatra group | 6 for the same gana; mixed pairs 6, 5, 1 or 0 |
| Bhakoot | 7 | भकूट | Distance between the two Moon signs | 7 or 0; the 2-12, 5-9 and 6-8 positions score 0 |
| Nadi | 8 | नाड़ी | Adi, Madhya or Antya nakshatra group | 8 for different nadi, 0 for the same |
A few notes that clear up common confusion:
- Varna is not caste. It comes from the Moon sign’s element: water signs Brahmin, fire signs Kshatriya, earth signs Vaishya, air signs Shudra.
- Bhakoot and Nadi are all-or-nothing, which is why they swing the total so much.
What 18, 24 and 32 gun traditionally mean
A kundli matching score is read against customary marks:
| Total out of 36 | How it is traditionally described |
|---|---|
| Below 18 | Considered low; families usually ask an astrologer to look deeper before deciding |
| 18 to 24 | 18 is the customary minimum; this range is treated as acceptable |
| 24 to 32 | Considered good |
| 32 and above | Considered very high |
Different authorities draw the lines a point or so apart (some use 25 and 33), and none of them is a pass mark. A pair with 30 points can still have Nadi at zero, and a pair with 17 can have every heavy koot in place. Astrologers who take the work seriously look at the pattern and at both charts, not only the total. Couples with low scores have long, happy marriages, and high scores guarantee nothing; no tool can promise an outcome either way.
Nadi, Bhakoot and Gana dosha, and commonly cited cancellations
A dosha here simply means that a heavy koot scored zero (or, for Gana, 0 or 1). Tradition also records conditions under which many astrologers treat the dosha as cancelled. The tool checks the ones that can be worked out from rashi, nakshatra and pada:
| Dosha | When it is reported | Commonly cited cancellation |
|---|---|---|
| Nadi | Both have the same nadi | Same nakshatra but different pada; same rashi but different nakshatra; same nakshatra but different rashi |
| Bhakoot | Moon signs are 2-12, 5-9 or 6-8 from each other | Both Moon signs have the same lord (for example Mesh and Vrishchik), or the two lords are mutual friends |
| Gana | Gana score is 0 or 1 | The Moon-sign lords are the same or mutual friends |
Two things to know. First, a cancellation never changes the number: the table still shows 0 for that koot and mentions the cancellation in words, which is how mainstream calculators do it and keeps totals comparable. Second, astrologers cite further conditions that need a fuller reading of both charts, and they do not all agree. Treat “cancelled” as “many astrologers would not worry about this”, not as a ruling.
Manglik match
The tool checks Mars in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th and 12th houses of both charts, with the commonly cited exceptions. When both are Manglik or neither is, tradition considers the pair balanced. When only one is, astrologers usually look more closely at the exceptions rather than stopping there. The Manglik dosh page explains the rule house by house.
Why scores differ by a point between websites
If you run the same couple through two calculators and see 24 on one and 25 on the other, neither is broken. The published tables themselves differ:
- Vashya variants. One widely printed Vashya table gives 1.5 points to Manav-Jalchar and Chatushpad-Vanchar pairs; another gives 0.5. That is exactly a 1-point gap, and only for those pairs. This tool uses the 1.5 table, which more sources print, and says so in the koot note when your pair is affected.
- Half signs. Traditionally the first half of Dhanu is Manav and the second half Chatushpad, and Makar is split between Chatushpad and Jalchar. Some software ignores the split, which moves Vashya by half a point or a point.
- Yoni variants. Two cells of the 14-by-14 Yoni table, Horse with Deer and Buffalo with Lion, are printed differently in different books. The effect is at most 2 points and only for those animals.
- Gana tables differ between authors for mixed pairs such as Deva with Rakshasa.
- The Moon itself. A different ayanamsa, or a birth time a few minutes off, can put the Moon in the next nakshatra and change several koots at once. This tool uses Lahiri ayanamsa, and its Moon position was verified against the Swiss Ephemeris to within 5 arc-seconds.
So a one-point difference is a difference between books, not a mistake. A large difference usually means the two sites were given different birth times or places.
Kundli matching by name: an honest answer
Searches such as “kundali milan by name”, “kundli matching with name”, “kundali matching by name” and the Hindi “kundali milan name se” are very common, usually because one family does not have the other’s birth time yet.
Here is how name-based matching works. In the traditional naming system each nakshatra pada has a starting syllable, so a calculator takes the first letter of each name and guesses the birth star from it. That guess is right only if the name was actually chosen from the birth star, and many names today are not. It also says nothing about the lagna, so a Manglik check is impossible.
This tool does not match by name. It uses the real birth chart. If you have the date of birth, you have something better than the name: for “kundli matching by name and date of birth” or “kundali matching by name and date of birth”, the date, time and place do all the work and the name is just a label on the printout.
Kundli milan in Hindi and regional languages
Many people look for “kundli matching in hindi free”, “kundali milan for marriage in hindi”, “kundli milan in hindi by date of birth”, “kundali milan online in hindi” or “kundli matching online in hindi free”. Others want “kundali milan marathi”, “kundli matching gujarati”, “kundli matching in telugu”, “kundli matching in kannada” or a “marriage matching horoscope tamil” families can read.

A language menu above the form offers English, Español, Français, Deutsch and Português. Pick one and the whole result switches: rashi, nakshatra and planet names, chart letters such as सू चं मं, the koot table, dosha explanations and dasha. Single-kundli pages exist in Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. A kundali milan free in english is also what families abroad usually need. For the biodata itself, labels can be switched to your language on the Hindi biodata, Marathi biodata and Tamil biodata pages.
South Indian matching
A note on kundali matching south indian style: Tamil and Malayali families often use the ten-porutham system rather than Ashtakoot. This tool calculates Ashtakoot only. It can draw both kundlis in the South Indian chart style, but it does not produce a porutham table, so ask your family astrologer if porutham is what your tradition follows.
Software, app and download questions
- Kundli matching software. Searches like “kundli matching software free download” or “kundali matching software for pc” come from the days of installed programs. Nothing needs installing here; the page is the kundli milan software, and it works on any computer or phone browser.
- Best kundli matching app. There is no store app. We cannot tell you which is the best kundli matching site either; judge any kundli milan calculator or kundali matching calculator by whether it shows all eight koots with both values, explains cancellations, and tells you what it does with your data.
- Kundli matching report and download. For a kundli matching download, print the page or choose Save as PDF in the browser’s print dialog. The kundali milan format on the printout is the standard one: both birth details, the eight-koot table, total, doshas and both charts. There is no separate report file.
- Online kundli matching free. All of it is free: no credits, no trial, no locked koots. If you typed “kundali matching for marriage free” or “kundli matching free download”, this is the whole offer, with nothing to download.
- Best kundli matching for marriage. A kundli match maker on a screen can only do arithmetic. The best use of any of them is as a starting point for a conversation.
Using the result well
Whether you call it horoscope matching for marriage purpose or kundali milan for marriage purpose, the point of the exercise is to help two families feel comfortable, not to hand a veto to a spreadsheet. A few suggestions:
- Look at which koots lost points and whether a commonly cited cancellation applies.
- If elders are worried, consult a qualified astrologer with both full charts, not a screenshot of a total.
- Give at least as much weight to meeting, talking and understanding each other’s expectations. Kundali matching compatibility is one tradition’s lens; it is not the whole picture.
When the match moves forward, the marriage biodata maker and the Hindu marriage biodata preset have fields for rashi, nakshatra, gan, nadi and Manglik status, and the biodata format guide explains which horoscope lines families usually include. The kundli page can fill those fields and the Rasi chart for you.
This kind of kundli matching for wedding decisions is practised mainly in Hindu families across India and the diaspora (hence searches like “kundli matching hindu” and “kundli matching india”), though customs vary widely by region and community, and plenty of families skip it.
