Astrology is a matter of belief and tradition. This tool does the astronomy and the drawing carefully, adds a detailed report of what the classical texts traditionally say about each placement, and leaves the final judgement to you and to a qualified astrologer. Its first tab, “Today for you”, shows the day’s Tara Bala and Chandra Bala from your own birth star and Moon sign, Rahu Kaal, Abhijit muhurat and Choghadiya; treat it as traditional guidance to check with a qualified jyotishacharya, not a rule to follow blindly.

It is a detailed jathagam in Tamil in the sense that matters to a family: a full jathagam in Tamil with both charts and the dasa, not a teaser. The detailed report adds traditional readings, but it is not a book of predictions. Under the charts the tool opens a detailed kundli report in nine tabs: panchang at birth, 15 divisional charts, planet and house readings, Ashtakavarga, about 25 yogas, doshas with free, harmless traditional remedies, Vimshottari dasha down to pratyantar level and transits. Settings used
Sidereal zodiac with Lahiri ayanamsa, mean Rahu and Ketu, whole-sign houses. Positions were checked against the Swiss Ephemeris for births from 1900 to today. This is the common setup in Tamil Nadu, so the kattam should match a printed computer jathagam made elsewhere, apart from rare cases where the birth time sits right on a boundary.
How to read the jathagam kattam in Tamil
People often search “how to read jathagam kattam in tamil”. The South Indian kattam is simple once you know one rule: the signs never move; the planets do.

- மீனம் is always the top-left box. From there the signs run clockwise: along the top row to மிதுனம், down the right side, back along the bottom and up the left.
- Find the lagnam. The box holding the rising sign is marked with a diagonal line and the letter ல (for லக்னம்). That box is the 1st house.
- Count houses clockwise from the lagnam box. The next box clockwise is the 2nd house, and so on.
- Read the short letters. Each graha appears as a short Tamil letter: சூ (Sun), சந் (Moon), செ (Mars), பு (Mercury), கு (Jupiter), சு (Venus), சனி (Saturn), ரா (Rahu), கே (Ketu). A vakram graha is marked.
- The four middle boxes are empty space for the name and the chart title.
The navamsam kattam uses the same fixed grid. That is why an astrologer can glance from the rasi to the navamsam without redrawing anything.

Jathagam creation in Tamil takes three inputs and one click.
1. Get the birth time right
The lagnam changes roughly every two hours and the Moon changes natchathiram about once a day. Use the time on the birth certificate or hospital record, not a guess. If the tool warns that the Moon or lagnam is near a boundary, confirm the time before you share the jathagam.
2. Pick the place
Choose the town from 5,900+ places. Time zones are historical, so an older date uses the offset that applied then. For a small village, enter latitude and longitude from a map.
3. Tamil jathagam create and print
Press the button and the Tamil chart is drawn. For a printout, press Print: only the result goes on the page, not the form. To keep a copy, choose Save as PDF in the print dialog — the file is made by your own browser.

A few things people expect from a jathagam page work differently here.
- Saving a copy. Use Print, then Save as PDF. The file holds the charts, the tables and the detailed report. There is no separate report file.
- Apps and software. There is nothing to install. The page works on a phone and on a Windows PC, and produces the same printout an old computer jathagam program did.
- Word files. We do not make one. If you need a jathagam for a marriage proposal, the biodata route below gives a cleaner result; otherwise open the saved PDF in Word.
- Daily predictions. Not offered. This is a birth chart, not a daily rasi palan.

Tamil jathagam porutham and matching for marriage
Porutham is what most Tamil families ask about first, so to be plain: this site does not calculate the ten-point South Indian porutham. Dinam, ganam, mahendram, stree deergham, yoni, rasi, rasi adhipathi, vasiyam, rajju and vedhai are not computed here.
What we do offer is kundli matching with the North Indian 36-point Ashtakoot (guna milan), with all eight koots, Nadi, Bhakoot and Gana dosha and a Manglik comparison. It is a different system from porutham. Some Tamil families look at both; many rely only on porutham. Regional names: Chevvai dosham and Ezharai sani
Tamil names for the dosha checks differ from the Hindi ones you see online.
- செவ்வாய் தோஷம் (Chevvai dosham) is the same idea as Manglik or Mangal dosh. The tool checks Mars from the lagnam, the Moon and Venus, and lists commonly cited exceptions. Read more on the Manglik dosh page.
- ஏழரை சனி (Ezharai sani) is Sade Sati, the seven and a half years when Saturn transits the 12th, 1st and 2nd sign from your Moon rasi. The tool shows only whether it is running now and which phase.
- Kaal Sarp is checked when all grahas sit on one side of the Rahu-Ketu axis.
These are traditional ideas. The tool reports them. The detailed report lists only free, harmless traditional remedies such as a beej mantra, charity and seva; it never recommends paid pariharams, gemstones or yantras. Please talk to a qualified astrologer before acting on any dosha.
