In Kerala a ജാതകം (jathakam) is usually written for a child soon after birth, often on palm leaf or paper by a family jyotsyan, and it is brought out again when a marriage alochana begins. This page gives you a Malayalam jathakam online free, calculated from the date, time and place of birth. Settings used
Sidereal zodiac with Lahiri ayanamsa, mean Rahu and Ketu, whole-sign houses. Positions were checked against the Swiss Ephemeris for births from 1900 to today.
How to read the Malayalam rasi chakram
The South Indian chart is a square of twelve boxes around an empty centre. The rule: the rasis stay fixed; the grahas move through them.

- മീനം is always the top-left box. The signs run clockwise: മേടം, ഇടവം, മിഥുനം along the top, then down the right side.
- Find the lagnam. Its box is marked with a diagonal line and the letter ല. That box is the 1st house.
- Count houses clockwise from the lagnam box.
- Read the short letters. സൂ (Sun), ച (Moon), കു (Kuja, Mars), ബു (Budhan), ഗു (Guru, Jupiter), ശു (Shukran), മ (Mandan, Saturn), രാ (Rahu), കേ (Ketu). Vakram grahas are marked.
- The centre holds the name and chart title.
Note that Malayalam rasi names differ from Sanskrit ones: Medam for Mesha, Edavam for Vrishabha, Chingam for Simha. The Malayalam months carry the same names, which is why Chingam is also the first month of the Kollam calendar.

Malayalam jathakam matching and porutham
Kerala families usually ask about porutham before anything else. To be plain: this site does not calculate the Kerala ten-point porutham, and it does not give nakshatra porutham in Malayalam, rajju or vedha.
What we offer is kundli matching, the North Indian 36-point Ashtakoot: all eight koots, Nadi, Bhakoot and Gana dosha with commonly cited cancellations, and a Chovva dosham comparison. Regional names: Chovva dosham and Ezhara shani
- ചൊവ്വ ദോഷം (Chovva dosham) is the Malayalam name for Manglik or Mangal dosh. The tool checks Mars from the lagnam, the Moon and Venus, and lists commonly cited exceptions. See the Manglik dosh page. Kerala practice on Chovva dosham differs from the North, so treat the result as a starting point.
- ഏഴര ശനി (Ezhara shani) is Sade Sati: Saturn transiting the 12th, 1st and 2nd rasi from the Moon. The tool shows only whether it is running now and which phase. Kandaka shani is a different transit and is not checked.
- Kaal Sarp is checked when all grahas sit on one side of the Rahu-Ketu axis.
The detailed report lists only free, harmless traditional remedies such as a beej mantra, charity and seva; it never recommends paid poojas, gemstones or yantras. Please speak to a qualified astrologer before acting on any dosha.
